In May the NY Times and many other papers printed a story that Iran had passed a Nazi-style law obliging Jews, Christians and other religious minorities to wear coloured badges.  Although the story was mentioned by the Canadian Prime Minister and confirmed by a rabbi from the Simon Wiesenthal Center, it was simply not true, a fabrication of an influential Iranian exile, as the Christian Science Monitor reported:
