Israel seeks same deal as India - nuke aid outside the NPT
The ArmsControlWonk blog points out that Israel is privately asking the international community for nuclear technology even though it has not signed the Non-Proliferation treaty and has built a nuclear arsenal. Seeking the same NPT-busting deal that India and the US have done, the US is currently rebuffing Israel. Of course, France, Britain, Norway and Germany have already given Israel help with their bomb programme, but that was secret.
In April 2006 the Israeli ministry of foreign affairs held talks with representatives of the Nuclear Suppliers Group (NSG), to discuss issues of nuclear export controls. The NSG delegation was headed by its chairman, Ambassador Roald Naess of Norway. FM Livni told the delegation that Israel shares the objectives and priorities of the NSG and is a reliable partner in confronting nuclear proliferation.
